How to use default PDF headers in notes and documents

Bookem allows you to export your documents as PDFs. These documents can be exported with headers or without headers.

Default PDF headers

Default PDF headers are, by default, toggled OFF for Documents. You can change this setting, but not customise the default headers.

Default PDF headers include the following:

  • The note's name/ heading

  • The client's first and last name

  • The date of exporting to PDF

  • Your business logo

  • Your location name, address, email and number

How to toggle default PDF headers on or off

  1. Go to a client profile either via your calendar or by searching in Clients

  2. Navigate to the 'Documents' tab on the client profile

  3. Open a note or document and click on the '^' button at the bottom of the note

  4. Here, you can toggle 'Use default PDF header' on or off. The default header is only seen once exported to PDF.

Note: This setting will apply to the export of all future notes or documents, unless you change it before exporting the next note or document

Customised headers

Customised headers can only be used in Documents. Default PDF headers are by default, toggled OFF for Documents. We encourage you to create your own document headers in Document templates or use one that has been set up in document templates on the demo business when you signed up for Bookem.

Note: Default PDF headers can't be toggled on or off in document templates, only in documents.

Here's how:

1. Go to Documents > Templates

2. Select a document template that already contains a customised header, or click '+ New Template' to create a new one

3. You can use features like columns, horizontal rules, images (for business logo), and variables to create a customised document header

Here's an example of a customised header in a document, which was created in document templates

Note: Toggling the default PDF header ON when you already have a personalised header in your document will result in a double header on exported PDFs.
