How to use default or customised PDF headers in documents

Bookem lets you export documents as PDFs, with or without headers.

What is a default PDF header?

Default PDF headers are turned OFF for Documents, but you can enable them. However, the default headers cannot be customised.

Default PDF headers include the following information:

  • The note's name/ heading

  • The client's first and last name

  • The date of exporting to PDF

  • Your business logo

  • Your location name, address, email and number

How to toggle default PDF headers ON/OFF

  1. Go to Clients and locate the client profile

  2. Navigate to the 'Documents' tab on the client profile

  3. Open a note or document and click on the '^' button at the bottom of the note

  4. Here, you can toggle 'Use default PDF header' on or off. The default header is only seen once exported to PDF.

Note: This setting will apply to the export of all future notes or documents, unless you change it before exporting the next note or document

Customised headers

Customised headers are only available in Documents, and default PDF headers are by default turned OFF for them. We recommend creating your own document headers in Document templates or using those set up in the demo business from your Bookem sign-up.

Note: Default PDF headers can't be toggled on or off in document templates, only in documents.

Here's how

1. Go to Documents > Templates

2. Select a document template that already contains a customised header, or click '+ New Template' to create a new one

3. You can use features like columns, horizontal rules, images (for business logo), and variables to create a customised document header

Here's an example of a customised header in a document, which was created in document templates

Note: Toggling the default PDF header ON when you already have a personalised header in your document will result in a double header on exported PDFs.
