How to add client profile fields

A client profile field refers to specific categories of information about a customer, such as their name or contact details. You get some client fields added by default to your business when you sign up, which can (mostly) be removed or edited.

You can also add client fields if you need more. These profile fields can then be used/pre-populated or linked to elsewhere in Bookem as variables, such as in documents, sendable forms, automated messages or even invoices.

Client fields can be referenced by typing # and searching for the relevant variable. For example, typing "#number" would bring up all fields containing the word "number" such as "cellphone number" or "ID number", which you can select and use where you like.

The following client profile fields cannot be removed/are never necessary to add:

  • Name and last name

  • Email address

  • Cellphone number

  • Client time zone

  • Opt out of notifications/automated messages

Here's how to add more client profile fields:

1. Go to Clients > Profile Fields

2. Click the '+' sign to add before or after an existing client field

3. Select the type of field you'd like to add

4. Click 'Add item'

For example, use 'Date of birth'

5. Add more or click save once you are done
