How to use required context for your AI prompts

Required context guides AI Assist on the information to use. If set, the prompt won't run without that context, ensuring relevant, accurate output.

What required context does

Each context type points AI Assist to a specific source of information:

  • Client - pulls from the client's profile
  • Document - pulls from documents associated with specific tags you select
  • Form - pulls from a specific form you select
  • Upload - pulls from a specific file type you select

You can set one or more context requirements on a single prompt. If any required context is missing when the prompt runs, AI Assist will not proceed.

How to set up required context for an AI prompt

Follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Prompts
  2. Open an existing saved prompt or create a new one
  3. Scroll down to the 'Required context' field
  4. Select one or more context types: 'Client', 'Document', 'Form', or 'Upload'
  5. For each context type you select, specify the sub-requirement:
    • For Document: select the relevant document tag or tags
    • For Form: select the specific form
    • For Upload: select the required file type
  6. Select Save

A note on prompts and document templates:

Saved prompts in Settings > Prompts are separate from prompts saved within a document template. Changes to one do not sync to the other. If you want to use a saved prompt inside a document template, you need to add it manually.
