Unable to share your screen on Mac using Chrome

Screen sharing may not work during Bookem video calls on a Mac if Chrome doesn’t have the necessary screen recording permissions. This can prevent you from sharing your screen, even though Bookem supports screen sharing to help make your sessions more interactive and engaging.

Here’s how to fix it

Follow these steps:

  1. Open Chrome on your Mac and try to share your screen during a Bookem video call

  2. If you’re prompted to select a screen sharing option, note that choosing Entire Screen or Window may result in Chrome only accessing your camera and microphone and not your screen

  3. Try selecting Chrome Tab instead and confirm whether the screen share works successfully

If screen sharing still fails

If you receive an error message from Bookem saying screen sharingh failed, you’ll need to update your system permissions to allow Chrome to record your screen.

Here's how:

  1. Open your 'System Preferences' on your Mac

  2. Go to 'Security & Privacy'

  3. In the list on the left, scroll down and click 'Screen & System Audio Recording'

  4. On the right, find Google Chrome in the list of apps and ensure the checkbox next to it is ticked

  5. You’ll be prompted to restart Chrome—go ahead and do so to apply the changes
