What are credits?

Credits are Bookem’s in-app currency for transcription by our AI scribe, with usage dependent costs based on recording length and AI input/output size.

1 credit = 1 ZAR / USD (depending on your location)

Every account starts with a set of free credits so you can try these tools right away. Once your free credits run out, you can top up at any time to keep using AI assist and other credit-based features.

Note: Credits are NOT used for our AI help assistant. This is a free resource for Bookem users.

Credits are different from tokens.

• Credits pay for AI features (like transcription and note generation).
• Tokens pay for SMS messages sent through Bookem.

Soon, credits will also be used for other premium tools such as medical aid switching, so it’s worth keeping a few topped up in your account.

How to top up

1. In the main menu, click on the icon next to 'credits'

Or go to Settings > Account > Top up credits

2. Select the amount you'd like to purchase

3. Click to 'Issue invoice' and pay

• Transcriptions cost around R0.3 per minute (estimated).

Why use AI transcription?
